1. Overview
With many working remotely these days, we want to stay connected with everyone! All team members will have access to a webcam. We would like webcams on for huddles and meetings moving. We also encourage everyone to turn on camera in Jabber under settings. Nice to see everyone’s faces!
If you do not want to share a glimpse into your home (I know I don’t like people seeing my mess!), you can set up a background privacy screen with teams. Teams comes pre-loaded with various backgrounds (which they update from time to time). You can also add any custom background pictures (jpeg format).
2. Stock Team Background
To turn on a stock Teams background before you join a meeting, complete the following procedure:
- When joining a meeting, you can select Background image before you join the meeting.
- Click “Background Filters” before you click “join Now” and you can browse the background options to choose from.
- Once you have selected the background you want, click “Join Now” to join the meeting.
3. Changing Background
To change your background when you are in a meeting, complete the following procedure:
- When in a meeting you can click the “More” option at the top of the screen.
- Click on “Apply Background Effects” to pick a different background.
- You can add one of the saved backgrounds or pick a custom jpeg background (see below)
4. Custom Backgrounds
To add a custom Teams background, use the following procedure:
- Download any work appropriate jpeg file and save it to a folder on your desktop.
- Open the backgrounds settings in Teams (when you are joining or in a meeting) and click the “+” symbol to add new image.
- Locate the folder where you saved the background jpeg and double click to add it.
- Sometimes the images do not seem to upload – so it is a good idea to have a few different images that you download to pick from.
