Treaty Sales Orders

1. Overview

When a customer presents their treaty status card at a store, they get their order tax free. There are some limitations to tax free orders.

  • For a customer to get an order tax free, the order needs to be delivered on treaty land/urban reserve. Items MUST be delivered to reserve land and the address on the invoice must also be on reserve land as per federal and provincial government regulations, no exceptions. Otherwise they must pay the taxes. The stores do provide a small letter to our customers regarding this when they make a tax-exempt order, so they are aware of this.
  • If the customer hires a third-party company to pick up the order & deliver it on treaty land, we can do this, but ONLY if the third-party company provides a bill of landing. If there is no bill of lading the taxes will need to be paid.
  • If the customer wishes to pick up at the warehouse, the taxes will apply & they will need to pay at the store prior to pick up.
